Scipion Capital announces head of trade finance

Scipion Capital, a UK-based commodity trade finance investment manager, has appointed Paul Baker as head of trade finance. Based in London, Baker will report to Nicolas Clavel, who has moved from head of trade finance to chief investment officer.

Baker spent eight years at SMBC until November 2015, where he was assistant general manager in the firm’s structured trade and commodity finance department. Prior to that, Baker was director for metals and mining in the commodity finance division at West LB for three years.

Baker has also held a variety of trade finance VP and manager positions at institutions including Citibank, UFJ Bank, UBS, ING Bank and Banque Paribas.
