ADB approves second Pakistan transmission loan programme

Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved $810 million of loans for the MFF Second Power Transmission Enhancement Investment Programme in Pakistan.

The 10-year project is aimed at rehabilitation and expansion of Pakistan’s transmission network and promoting reforms at the state-owned National Transmission Despatch Company (NTDC) and newly established commercial operator, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (Guarantee) Limited.

The multi-tranche facility, which will be disbursed in stages between 2016 and 2026, is split between $800 million of ADB direct loans and $10 million from the Asian Development Fund.
